Leadership Profile

Greg Martin brings a rare combination of strategic financial expertise, transaction advisory experience, and academic thought leadership to ClearPath Advisory Group. Throughout his career, he has focused on helping business owners understand the financial drivers that create enterprise value and position companies for sustainable growth, succession, or a successful exit.

Greg's professional foundation began with service as an officer in the United States Air Force, where he managed complex programs and developed the leadership discipline that continues to shape his approach to business today. During his military service, he earned an MBA from the University of Notre Dame and later completed a PhD in Accounting from the University of Colorado. He is also a graduate of the United States Air Force Academy, where he graduated with distinction.

Over the past two decades, Greg has built a career centered on understanding how businesses create value. His research and professional work have focused on financial reporting quality, corporate governance, valuation, earnings quality, audit effectiveness, cash flow analysis, and capital market behavior. He has authored numerous peer-reviewed publications and has presented his work internationally throughout North America, Europe, and Asia. His research has appeared in many of the accounting profession's most respected journals and has influenced both academic and professional discussions surrounding financial decision-making.

While Greg's academic credentials are extensive, his work with business owners is grounded in practical application. He has spent years helping entrepreneurs, family-owned businesses, and lower middle-market companies navigate critical financial decisions. His experience includes business valuation, transaction readiness, exit planning, strategic financial analysis, capital planning, and mergers and acquisitions advisory services.

Through his transaction advisory work, Greg has advised owners across a wide range of industries on issues such as company valuation, buyer positioning, deal structuring, due diligence preparation, financial normalization, and negotiations. He understands that for most owners, a business is far more than a financial asset—it represents years of sacrifice, relationships, and personal identity. As a result, he approaches every engagement with an owner-first mindset focused on preserving both financial value and personal legacy.

At ClearPath Advisory Group, Greg works closely with founders and leadership teams to bring institutional-grade financial rigor to organizations that may not have access to a full internal finance department. Whether the objective is accelerating growth, improving profitability, preparing for a transition, or evaluating strategic alternatives, his focus is on helping clients make informed decisions based on clear financial insights rather than assumptions.

In addition to his advisory work, Greg continues his research and teaching, where he has received multiple teaching and excellence awards throughout his career. His ongoing involvement in research, corporate finance, and financial reporting allows him to stay at the forefront of emerging trends and best practices that directly benefit his clients.

Greg's combination of military leadership, advanced financial expertise, transaction experience, and commitment to practical business solutions reflects the foundation on which ClearPath Advisory Group was built: helping owners create, protect, and ultimately realize the value they have worked so hard to build.
